ASRY (Arab Shipbuilding & Repair Yard) is the Arabian Gulf’s leading maritime repair and fabrication facility. Founded in 1977 in Bahrain, the multi-service yard operates in four sectors – Ship Repair & Conversion, Rig Repair & Conversion, Naval Repair & Conversion, and Fabrication & Engineering.

Arab Ship Shipbuilding and repair Yard (ASRY) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ONEX Shipyards Greece with the aim to jointly collaborate on knowledge and experience sharing in the sector of maritime repair, technology, optimization, modernization and to explore future business opportunities.
This came during the signing ceremony of the MoU which took place virtually between the two companies in the presence of H.E. Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Greek Prime Minister who was visiting ONEX shipyards at that time. The signing ceremony began with H.E. Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis blessing and well-wishing the signing of this MoU. H.E. expressed his gratitude to ASRY for taking this first step to engage with one of the historical Greek shipyards which reflects the Kingdom of Bahrain’s advanced capabilities in terms of economic cooperation.
Following that, Mr. Mazen Matar, Managing Director and Board Member of ASRY, signed the MoU on behalf of ASRY with his counterpart Mr. Panos Xenokostas, President and CEO of ONEX Group signing the MoU on behalf of ONEX Shipyards.
On that occasion, Mr. Matar expressed his deep appreciation to the Greek Prime Minister, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, for his support and to the CEO and President of ONEX Group, Mr. Panos Xenokostas, for signing the MoU. Mr. Matar commented “We are looking forward to the positive results of this MoU, which opens up a new horizon for the development of ASRY’s business on an international scale” Mr. Matar Added: " For decades now, ASRY has been working with and providing its services to the major Greek Ship Owners. The signing of this MoU today, only strengthens these relations and take them to broader dimensions not only for the repair and maintenance of Greek Ships, but for entering partnerships with the Greek shipyards. Mr. Matar further added “the ONEX Group is one of the leading Greek business groups with a wide range of specialized companies such as ONEX Shipyards whom we look forward to seriously working with soon”
From his side, Mr. Xenokostas, expressed his contentment with signing this MoU with such a renowned international shipyard as ASRY and commented “We are very pleased to join forces with the Arabian Gulf’s leading maritime & industrial optimization yard ASRY. Together we can implement the best practices and exchange valuable know-how for the benefit of our shared clientele. Our alliance will leverage our competitiveness to address the global market, so we look forward to start unfolding all this great potential of our cooperation the soonest possible”.
